It is a scholarly legal journal, analyzing developments in the law and suggesting future paths for the law to follow.

It is ranked 12th on Above the Law's 2018 Top Law School Rankings and 18th in the 2021 edition of U.S. News & World Report. Vanderbilt Law School is one of the most selective law schools in the United States and has a 22.57% acceptance rate. Vanderbilt Law enrolls approximately 640 students, with each entering Juris Doctor class consisting of approximately 175 students.

In September 2007, Erwin Chemerinsky was named as the law school's first dean. L. Song Richardson became interim dean in July 2017 and full dean in January 2018. The Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law (ASU Law) is one of the professional graduate schools at Arizona State University, located in Phoenix, Arizona. The law school was created in 1965 as the Arizona State University College of Law upon recommendation of the Arizona Board of Regents, with the first classes held in the fall of 1967. The school has held American Bar Association accreditation since 1969 and is a member of the Order of the Coif. The school is also a member of the Association of American Law Schools.

Notre Dame Law School is the professional graduate law school of the University of Notre Dame. Established in 1869, it is the oldest continuously operating Catholic law school in the United States. The school enrolls about 600 students and in addition to the J.D. degree it also offers dual JD–MBA and several a dual J.D. and Masters combined degrees (including JD/MS, JD/MA, JD/M.Eng.). According to Notre Dame's 2018 ABA-required disclosures, 41.5% of the Class of 2019 accepted positions at Large Firms, while 11.9% accepted Federal Clerkships, and 17.6% of the Class of 2019 Graduates accepted public service positions.
